The Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ASD's ACSC) has released updated guidance to help technology manufacturers and those who use their digital products or services to adopt secure-by-design principles.
In consultation with industry, ASD has updated the Secure-by-Design Foundations. The Foundations have been designed to promote a common understanding of the responsibilities of technology manufacturers and consumers to develop, deploy and sustain resilient and secure digital products and services.
The Foundations identify key risks, focus areas and benefits separately for technology manufacturers and consumers. This approach allows both to better work together, to ensure the products that are being developed and used have greater digital resilience and are safer throughout their entire digital product or service life cycle.
All organisations should be considering secure-by-design for the procurement of digital products and services. The Foundations enable organisations to make better-informed decisions when choosing, implementing and operating technology securely.
You can use the Foundations to inform the way your business approaches digital resilience and cyber security. The Foundations can help you protect your data, privacy and manage weaknesses and vulnerabilities throughout the design and development of products, appropriate to your organisational context.
All organisations can access the Secure-by-Design Foundations. You can also join the free ASD Cyber Security Partnership Program as a Network Partner to receive the latest cyber threat alerts and cyber security advice.
