Today we have released Foundations for modern defensible architecture (The Foundations), which outlines key zero trust considerations for building and implementing modern defensible IT architecture.

The Foundations introduce modern defensible architecture as an approach to assist organisations to apply consistent, foundational goals to build, maintain, update and enhance their systems. They represent a bedrock of secure design and architecture activities that will best prepare organisations to adapt to current and emerging cyber threats and challenges.

Encouraging and enabling organisations to uplift their security using zero trust and secure-by-design is a core priority for ASD. We want to consult with industry and government to seek feedback on the Foundations. Specifically, ASD would like to know:

  • if you have any suggested improvements to the Foundations
  • what further advice and guidance you would value, to inform our future work program
  • if you have any case studies, experiences or lessons learned you wish to discuss or provide to inform this work.

Read the full guidance and provide feedback on the Foundations for modern defensible architectures.
