The ASD’s ACSC runs Cyber Hygiene Improvement Programs (CHIPs) to build visibility and develop insights into security vulnerabilities as well as guide urgent remediation work.
CHIPs offers Commonwealth, State and Territory governments data-driven and actionable information to guide future cyber security efforts and improve cyber hygiene practices, including targeted management of ICT system improvements and maintenance.
CHIPs also conducts high priority operational tasking activities in response to identified and potential cyber threats or significant events.
More information on CHIPs can found in the 2021-2022 Annual Cyber Threat Report.
The ASD’s ACSC, as part of our ongoing partnership with the NCSC, has been sharing how CHIPs brings an adversary’s perspective, at scale, to help organisations understand and minimise their attack surface.
The NCSC has launched the NCSC internet scanning capability. Similarly their capability aims to:
- Better understand the vulnerability and security of the UK
- Help system owners understand their security posture on a day-to-day basis
- Respond to shocks (like a widely exploited zero-day vulnerability).
These programs and initiatives further demonstrate the importance of ASD’s ACSC’s ongoing partnership and collaboration with the NCSC as we continue to strengthen our cyber security capabilities.
